Remote Conferencing

It is called Remote Conferencing. This is an on-line approach that is limited in scope and availability.

Across all grade levels, remote conferencing:
  • will be led by an Instructional Assistant or Substitute Teacher who will provide assistance and direction to students in small groups
  • is available only to students who test positive for COVID-19 or are quarantining
  • is limited to no more than 10 days at a time for a single student
  • is limited to no more than 20 days per year unless Meridian obtains a waiver from TEA for the specific child
  • will allow the student to be counted present

Primary School students are required to have two hours of remote conferencing with the Instructional Assistant/Substitute Teacher and two hours of asynchronous work offline.

Secondary School students are required to have four hours of remote conferencing with the teaching staff member. Some of the time may be student work time, but the student must be present online in the remote conference for four hours to be counted present.

We intend to start this process the week of Labor Day. This is something very new, and as the Instructional Assistant/Substitute will not be the students’ teacher, we expect this process to get better and normalize over time. We ask for your patience and grace as we begin this new program.
