Welcome to a new school year

Dear Meridian Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope you enjoyed your time away this summer with fun, exciting, and maybe even relaxing activities away from the school routine. It is now time to return and our teachers and staff are all ready and eager to greet their new students!

We begin the new year in repaired and refreshed facilities with a proud new lion greeting everyone as you drive by the Welcome Wall.

This year, our work is focused on the theme “Growing the Continuum.” Meridian was authorized this past spring as an IB Continuum school. This means that not only did each of the three programs, PYP, MYP, and DP, meet the stringent requirements of the International Baccalaureate, but that all three programs align on mission, vision, international mindedness, policies, and practices.

At Meridian, we are proud to be an IB Continuum school, but we know there is even more to the Meridian Continuum. These are the five elements we hold to be the core of Meridian:

  • An inquiry-based student-centered education. Meridian provides a rigorous, inquiry-based education through the International Baccalaureate framework, meeting students where they are and working to help each reach the high bar of expectations.
  • A culture of international mindedness. Through the lens of the Learner Profile, students learn to appreciate themselves and others as demonstrated through the diversity of cultures and inclusivity of the school culture.
  • A balanced extracurricular and robust enrichment. A fee-based after-school program extends and reflects the IB program for primary students. Competitive athletics, academic and fine arts extracurriculars. i.e. Model UN, student-driven clubs, and a variety of student social and leadership opportunities are available for 6-12.

  • An invested and committed parent community. Parents are engaged and invested in their students’ education and dedicated to enhancing the experience for all stakeholders through participation in Volunteers in Partnership (ViP), Teacher Grant Awards, Community Workdays, and the Annual Fund.
  • A sustainable organization. We are responsible stewards of our financial and human resources to advance the vision and mission of Meridian. Leadership is collaborative from the teacher teams to the administration and district, understanding that strong relationships build trust and motivate individuals to fulfill their WHY.

Meridian is the special place it is because we all have a role to play in ensuring these core elements flourish and endure year to year. We are so grateful to you for the role you play and the trust you place in us to grow your children, so that they will one day artfully navigate this complex world and enjoy a good life with others. It’s going to be a great year!

Go Lions!
