Groups of students each made far larger than life-size replicas of the contents of a cell (for example, mitochondria the size of a cake pan). They then presented to the class the role that their assigned component plays in the cell. A massive cell wall (larger than a VW Beetle) was inflated in the classroom, and the components were placed inside of the cell. I'm sure students will long remember their work on the cell in Dr. Bowers' class
