Competitive Flag Football - Fall 2025

 

 

 

About Meridian Flag Football

This is Meridian’s second season of Flag Football. All of our competitions will be within our league – Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League (TCSAAL). We will have practices and host home games close to the Meridian campus at Rock Field. Away games could be anywhere in the Central Texas area.

 

Teams Forming Based on Registration

Meridian Athletics hopes to form two teams for 2025 – Coed Middle School (7-8) and Coed Varsity (9-12). The team(s) formed will ultimately depend on registration numbers and tryouts. Participation in tryouts is required to be considered for a team, and cuts are expected.

  

Important Dates

Wednesday, April 30 - Registration ($52.30) opens for 2025 season.

Thursday, May 8 at 9:00 p.m. - Registration ($52.30) ends for the 2025 season.

Wednesday, July 23 - Late registration ($104.60) opens.

Thursday, July 30 - Late registration ($104.60) ends at 9 p.m.

Thursday, August 1 - Physical forms due for tryouts. Learn more.

Friday, August 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Rock Field - Tryouts. See Tryouts.

Saturday, August 9 by 12 p.m. - Tryout results posted here by tryout number.

Saturday, August 9 - Participation fees invoices issued via MySchoolBucks

Monday, August 11 - Participation fees due

Tuesday, August 12 - Practices start

Monday, August 25 - Games start

October 27 - November 7 - Area playoffs 

November 8 - Regional Tournament (advancement must be earned)

Saturday, November 15 - State Tournament  (advancement must be earned)

 

Tryouts

Participation in tryouts is required. Students must be registered and physically eligible to try out. See Tryouts.

 

Practice Schedule

Middle School practices twice a week, 90-minutes for each practice.

Varsity practices three times a week. Two 2-hour practices on the field + one 1-hour conditioning on campus.

Game Schedule

Each team will have up to eight regular season games. Advancement to playoffs must be earned by the team. The season ends when competitions end.

 

The Game Schedule will be available in early August. Teams will have about two games a week. Games can be any weekday evening or on Saturdays. When a game is scheduled on a practice day, the practice is likely to be cancelled.

Registration

Regular registration ($52.30) opens Wednesday, April 30 and ends at 9 p.m. on Thursday. May 8. 

 

Late registration ($104.60) opens Wednesday, July 23 and ends Wednesday, July 30 at 9 p.m. Late registration will not be available for teams that have not met the minimum registration requirements during the regular registration window.

 

Lettering & Letter Jackets

Lettering in an extracurricular activity is reserved for the highest level of participation. For Flag Football, this means Varsity Flag Football players. Lettering requirements will be similar to other Varsity sports and will be published in September. In the meantime, feel free to check out Letter Jackets & Lettering for more information.
