Important update: For the first time this season, our Varsity teams are competing in the HCAL conference. Our Varsity league games will be Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays. For away games on Wednesdays, because our opponents' fields do not have lights, Girls Varsity could play as early as 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. Boys Varsity could play as early as 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. When we host, we plan to offer a later start when possible. Parents/guardians will be able to coordinate carpooling with TeamApp after teams are formed.

About 2025-2026 Meridian Soccer
- The teams formed this year will depend on registration and tryout results. If coed teams are formed, they will compete in the Boys division. Please anticipate cuts at all levels.
- Tryouts - Tryouts are Wednesday, December 3. See Tryouts.
- New this year! Varsity teams will participate in the Honor Charter League (HCAL). Important update: Our HCAL league games will be Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays. For away games on Wednesdays, because our opponents' fields do not have lights, Girls Varsity could play as early as 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. Boys Varsity could play as early as 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. When we host, we plan to offer a later start when possible. Parents/guardians will be able to coordinate carpooling with TeamApp after teams are formed.
- Subvarsity teams will continue to participate in the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletics League (TCSAAL) this year. Meridian Competitive Soccer teams could also participate in some non-league games as well.
- Practices begin the week after tryouts, before Winter Break. Standard practice frequency and time per competitive team level:
- Middle School teams practice up to twice a week (up to 3 hours weekly).
- If a JV team forms, JV teams practice up to three times a week, for 90 minutes each practice (up to 4.5 hours weekly).
- Varsity teams practice up to three times a week for up to 120 minutes per practice (up to 5-6 hours weekly).
- Participation fees guarantee practice opportunities. Playing time must be earned based on skills demonstrated, practice effort, and attendance, Soccer IQ, and sportsmanship. Playing time is determined by the coach.
- Parents/guardians will need to volunteer to support their student athlete’s team.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for providing or coordinating transportation.
- All teams will use TeamApp to stay current on all their team’s happenings. TeamApp can also be used to coordinate transportation and team social gatherings.
Participants
- 7th-12th grade students. (MS = 7th & 8th grades. JV = 9th-12th grades. Varsity = 9th-12th grades. 8th grade students could be asked to play up to the Varsity team.)
- Minimum participants = 15 per team
Equipment & Uniforms
- Loaned by Meridian Athletics - Each soccer player will be loaned a home and an away jersey. Goalies will be loaned a goalie jersey and a pair of gloves. Soccer balls will be available.
- Provided by Soccer Players - Students will need to provide their own black athletics shorts, black socks, shin guards, soccer cleats, and athletic shoes for when practice is moved to Meridian. Soccer players must bring a full bottle of water to each practice and game.
- Provided by Meridian Athletics to Keep - Each soccer player will be provided a Meridian Soccer spirit wear long-sleeved T-shirt, which can be worn to school on Fridays and to practices. Sizes are collected on the registration form.

Tuesday, December 16 - Practices start
Friday, December 19 - Practices will be held for students who do not have an unavoidable, previously scheduled conflict.
Saturday, December 20 - Monday, January 5 - Winter Break (No practices)

Physical Eligibility Required
Students must be registered for 2025-2026 Competitive Soccer and physically eligible to try out. Physical forms are due by November 20 and must be submitted to [email protected] for processing. Learn more about Physical Eligibility. on the Eligibility webpage.

Games
- Varsity will participate in the Honor Charter League (HCAL) this season. Middle School and JV will participate in the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League (TCSAAL). Most competitions will be through the league, with a few non-league games. Teams will have up to four non-league games plus up to eight league games with the opportunity to advance to playoffs. Varsity and Middle School can advance as far as the State Championship. JV can advance to Regionals. Advancement in the postseason must be earned.
- Away games could be at our opponents' fields or another field, and could be anywhere in the greater Austin area, including Temple, Buda, and Manor, as examples only.
- Competitions can be any evening of the week and on Saturdays. Teams usually have two games a week.
- We plan to host home games at the Round Rock Multiplex again this season.
- The Game Schedule will be available in late January.
Registration - Now Closed. No late registration.
Student Commitment - Student athletes and their parents/guardians should read and be familiar with Student Commitment Expectations for Competitive Sports before registering. Students who have a standing conflict must submit the Standing Conflict Waiver found here before registering.
Registration ended at 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 20. No Late Registrations will be accepted!
Important! Student athletes and parents/guardians should check the Sports Registration Status before registration closes to ensure their registration was successful. If you do not see your name on the registration status, and you registered before it was last timestamped, please email Meridian Athletics to check on your registration status by 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 20 so your registration issues can be resolved before registration closes.
