COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols
Meridian has been keeping up with the latest from the CDC guidelines in regards to COVID-19. The CDC recently dropped the quarantine guidelines, so we will no longer require students or staff to quarantine if they test positive for the virus.
As with any illness, students and staff should not return to the school until they are fever free for 24+ hours, without medication on board and are feeling much better.
COVID-19 has been causing less severe illness and hospitalizations have decreased as most people are vaccinated and/or have been exposed to the virus, creating immunity to the virus.
What do I do if my student tests positive for COVID-19 or a respiratory virus?
- If your student will be absent, report the absence via email.
- As with any absence, parents and guardians may contact their student’s teachers to pick up homework for their student.
Students and staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19 or another respiratory virus may return to school once these measures have been met:
- They are 24 hours fever-free (temp of 100𐩑 F or higher) without using fever-reducing medication
- Improved symptoms (cough, difficulty breathing, etc.)
- Keep in mind that you may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better. Take added precaution over the next 5 days after you return, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, washing hands, etc.
