Competitive Flag Football - Fall 2024
Teams Forming Based on Registration
Based on registration results and a reduction in middle school students trying out, the Varsity team will not form, and we will form just one competitive Coed Middle School team -- Middle School Beast, and a Practice Team, which will be determined based on tryouts. Participation in tryouts is required to be considered for a team, and cuts are expected.
About Meridian Flag Football
This is Meridian’s first season of Flag Football. All of our competitions will be within our league – Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League (TCSAAL). We will have practices and host home games close to the Meridian campus at Rock Field. Away games could be anywhere in the Central Texas area.
Important Dates
Tuesday, April 30 - Registration ($52.30) opens for 2024 season
Wednesday, May 8 at 9 p.m. - Registration ($52.30) ends for the 2024 season.
Wednesday, July 24 - Late registration ($104.60) opens.
Thursday, August 1 - Late registration ($104.60) ends at 9 p.m.

Monday, August 12 - Participation fees invoices issued via MySchoolBucks
Tuesday, August 13 - Participation fees due
Wednesday, August 14 - Kickoff Meeting for parents/guardians and flag football players (5:15 - 6:00 p.m. at Rock Field)
Wednesday, August 14 - Practices start (right after Kickoff Meeting)
Saturday, August 24 - League games start
October 10 - 17 - Area playoffs (This is during Meridian’s Fall Break. Games are possible.)
October 18 - 19 - Regional Tournament
Saturday, October 26 - State Tournament at Texas State University
Tryouts
Participation in tryouts is required. Students must be registered and physically eligible to try out.
Practice Schedule
Middle School practices twice a week, 90-minutes for each practice.

Game Schedule
Each team will have up to eight regular season games. Advancement to playoffs must be earned by the team.

Registration
Late Registration was available for $104.60 starting on Wednesday, July 24 and ended at 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. Late registration was not available for teams with insufficient registration during the regular registration window. Those teams have been canceled for the upcoming season due to insufficient interest and registration. No registrations will be accepted after the late registration window.
Lettering & Letter Jackets
Lettering in an extracurricular activity is reserved for the highest level of participation. For Flag Football, this means Varsity Flag Football players. Because a Varsity team is not forming for the 2024 season, lettering in Flag Football will not be available for the 2024-2025 academic year; however, letter jacket patches representing football and flag football will remain reserved in the hope that a Varsity team will form in the fall of 2025.
