Matthew Castaneda

A native Texan, Matthew Castaneda grew up in Houston and then moved to Austin to attend The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor's in English in 2014. After graduating, Matthew taught high school English for four years at LBJ Early College High School, where he also served as the English department chair and a PLC leader. Matthew later earned his Master's degree in Education Leadership and Policy in 2018 from The University of Texas at Austin. Matthew joined the Meridian family as the 8th grade English teacher during the 2018-2019 school and then later as the Assistant Principal for grades 6 and 7 during the 2019-2020 school year. Matthew is happily married to his wife, Payton, and is passionate about desserts, cheese, and visiting new hiking trails..
