Marny Lee
Marny Lee joined Meridian in August 2022 as the PYP art teacher. Marny has a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University. She is certified in art for early childhood through the eighth grade.
Marny volunteered as an Americorps Artist in Las Cruces, New Mexico for a few years right after college. She then moved to South Korea to teach English, where she met her husband. They moved back to Texas when her son was born in 2014. She also has a daughter, born in 2016. Marny has taught art, yearbook, and even virtual art prior to coming to Meridian.
Marny is deeply passionate about guiding children to think like artists and develop critical thinking skills by encouraging them to implement and explore their own ideas and take agency.
Students will be creating art in a choice-based classroom in art, which is a natural complement to the IB framework. The art studio is a space that is safe to learn, take risks, grow, and explore. Through choice in the studio, students become intrinsically motivated, engage in problem-solving, experiment with ideas and supplies, use critical thinking skills, and become persistent, creative, and innovative.
Marny is so proud to be a roaring lion, along with her son and daughter!
