Dorion DeMeyer
Dorion DeMeyer joined Meridian in May of 2022 as a first grade teacher. Dorion is originally
from Austin, Texas, and she received her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the
University of Texas in San Antonio. She is certified to teach Reading, grades 1-8, Early
Childhood Education, and Elementary Self-Contained, grades 1-8. In 2015 Dorion participated
in a year-long literacy research study through the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational
Risk and the University of Texas at Austin College of Education, helping students in grades 3-5
with reading comprehension difficulties. In the summer of 2017 Dorion designed a K-2 literacy
course for teachers in a continuing education workshop at Texas Christian University. Dorion
has many years of experience teaching grades K-2. She was a first grade teacher for Austin
Peace Academy, and most recently a student advocate teacher for Austin Jewish Academy.
Dorion has a passion for inspiring and fostering a life-long love of learning and literacy in a
transdisciplinary and inquiry based approach to learning. Dorion enjoys spending time and
traveling with her adult daughter Sydny, hiking, nature, gardening, reading, theater, painting, and
listening to music on her record player. Her goal is to foster a life - long love of learning where
all students feel successful socially, emotionally, physically, and academically
