Charles Ryder
Charles Ryder is an Austin native, having attended Westlake High School and receiving a B.A. in History and English from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his career teaching history in Pflugerville ISD, and then moved to the Dallas area and spent fourteen years at Uplift North Hills Preparatory, a K-12 IB continuum charter school in Irving, Texas. At North Hills, Mr. Ryder taught a variety of history courses, was department chair, IB DP History teacher, IB DP coordinator, and then Dean of Instruction.
In 2012 Charles Ryder and his family joined the Meridian School community. He served first as principal of the secondary school and then high school principal. In 2022 he retired from the principal role, then returned part time as IB Diploma Program coordinator. Mr. Ryder is an IB examiner in History and the Extended Essay, and is an IB Educator, leading workshops training others in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.
