Merike Van Rensburg
Originally from Australia, Merike embarked on her academic journey at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, attaining a Masters degree alongside secondary education qualifications. Equipped with a robust educational background, she commenced a rewarding teaching career, dedicating three years to nurturing the intellectual curiosity and academic growth of high school students, with a focus on subjects such as mathematics, science, and psychology.
Merike, accompanied by her husband, relocated to Austin, Texas, where she eagerly seized the opportunity to concentrate on middle school mathematics within the Meridian community. Prior to her current role, she served as a Mathematics interventionist for six months.
At the core of Merike's teaching ethos lies a commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, wherein each student is recognized, valued, and empowered. With a keen understanding of the unique strengths and challenges of individual learners, she adopts a personalized approach, tailoring her methods to suit diverse learning needs. Through the cultivation of curiosity, critical thinking, and a growth mindset, Merike endeavors to instill in her students the confidence and skills for lifelong learning and problem-solving.
Away from the academic realm, Merike derives pleasure from immersing herself in Austin's vibrant culinary landscape and embracing its dog-friendly culture, cherishing the companionship of her two Boston Terriers.
