Brian Ruiz is an enthusiastic and dedicated 8th-grade teacher specializing in Individuals and Societies, with a focus on U.S. History. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, and is Texas IB Schools Category 2 Certified.
 
Brian believes that preparing students for the real world and equipping them with the skills to make a meaningful impact is crucial. His deep-rooted connection to Central Texas, where his family has lived for generations, enriches his teaching with local insight and community values. Brian married his college sweetheart in 2004, and together they have three children: Hannah (2005), Christian (2006), and Scarlet (2010). Their household is lively with three pets: a dog named Lucky, a cat named Jax, and a bearded dragon named Ozzy.
 
Outside of the classroom, Brian is an avid sports fan, cheering for teams such as the Longhorns, Cowboys, Astros, AustinFC, and Arsenal. He is currently training to run the Austin Marathon in 2025, a lifelong dream of his. His passion for long-distance running and hiking, particularly in the mountains of Colorado, reflects his commitment to personal growth and endurance.
 
Brian’s love for U.S. history is a driving force in his teaching, providing a dynamic and engaging learning experience for his students. Although his family might not share his historical enthusiasm, Brian channels his excitement into his classroom, where he passionately shares the stories and lessons of American history with his students. His diverse experiences, both personal and professional, bring a rich and engaging perspective to his teaching.
