Leah Trainham
Leah Trainham is passionate about teaching social studies and looks forward to teaching DP History at Meridian. After growing up in Austin, she earned a Bachelor’s in History at the University of Texas at Austin, followed by a secondary teaching certification from the esteemed Uteach Liberal Arts Program.
She began her teaching career at Killeen High School, where she held dual roles of teacher and IB Diploma Program Coordinator, while also earning an Master’s in History from Texas A&M University-Central Texas. After six years in Denver, Colorado teaching 6th-10th grades, coordinating Gifted and Talented and an IB Middle Years Program, Leah moved with her daughters home to Texas. A Master's in Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix was also completed during this time. In 2020, Leah became an administrator with a network of IB campuses across Texas, which provided her with the opportunity to work with 16 schools, all offering IB to K-12 students. This opportunity also allowed Leah to become familiar with the IB Primary Years Program, allowing the continuum to come alive fully in her own practice. After four years in this role, and volunteering as a Model UN sponsor at Meridian in 2023-2024, she has decided to return to a campus and teach, where she believes she can make the most impact.
Leah is an examiner for the IB History Paper Two and History Extended Essay.
Leah has a deep passion for the IB as well as for history, and helping students understand the role they play in our interconnected past and present. She is excited about the work being done at Meridian and has two children in Primary that have benefitted greatly from the Meridian community. When she isn’t making puns about history, Leah can be found pursuing a PhD, knitting, sewing, reading, napping, attempting to garden, and enjoying time with her children, pets, and fiancée.
