Carlos Cita

Mr. Cita (he/him), also known as Mr. Carlos, is an experienced International Baccalaureate (IBEN) Music Educator and examiner. He has taught for over 25 years in schools in Colombia and the United States. His expertise spans the PYP, MYP, and DP IB music programs.
 
He continues to grow in his knowledge of the IB curriculum by taking courses such as MYP-Category 2 Visual Arts and Performing; Diploma-Certificate of Completion: Music Category 1 and 2 (New Music Curriculum); PYP-Category Making the PYP Happen in the Classroom; MYP-Approaches to Learning in the MYP Category 3; Diploma-Certificate of Completion: Music Category 1 and 2; and PYP-An Introduction to the Curriculum Model Category 1.
 
He graduated from Berklee College of Music as an Advanced Professional in Guitar and is a fully certified ORFF-Schulwerk Educator Level III by AOSA. In addition, he holds a Bachelor's Degree in English as a Foreign Language and a Master's in Education on Bilingual Learning Environments from Universidad Santo Tomas in Bogotá, Colombia. Currently, he is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Arrangements and Contemporary Compositions.
 
Throughout his career, he has created, arranged, and performed an international cultural program titled "I Believe in Colombia." This program featured live workshops and presentations in schools, universities, and local theaters across the United States and Canada.
 
Mr. Carlos’s ultimate aspiration is to be a globally recognized composer, with a particular focus on arranging and composing movie soundtracks. His goal is to bring his distinct musical perspective to the film industry, crafting memorable and impactful scores that resonate with audiences worldwide.
Since 2016, he has made Austin his home, living there with his wife and two sons. His sons are currently pursuing their education, one in college and the other in his final year of high school. In his leisure time, he cherishes family trips and cares for his beloved rescue pets, Teo (a cat) and Richie (a dog).
