Zoe Rothenberger
Zoe has been teaching at Meridian since January of 2018. She grew up in Manor, Texas, and was a graduate of Manor New Technology High School where she learned entirely project-based instruction, much like students at Meridian in the Middle Years Programme learn through well-planned units. Zoe graduated from the University of Texas (Hook ‘Em) in December of 2017 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. She is also a graduate of the UTeach program, one of the nation's leading teaching preparation programs. The UTeach program prepared Ms. Rothenberger to be an IB educator by giving her the tools to teach students through inquiry; to create communicators and balanced thinkers; to encourage students to be more open-minded and risk-taking; and to encourage being reflective and showing care to all. In July of 2018, she completed Middle Years Programme Category 2 training for mathematics educators and she looks forward to implementing the things she learned in that training in the classroom. Zoe is excited to teach Geometry because students get to investigate one of her favorite concepts, the Spiral of Theodorus, which can be used to informally prove that the square-root of any prime number exists and can be constructed!
Outside of school, Zoe enjoys spending quality time at home with my significant other and their two cats, Lola and Lucy; playing board games; and watching quality television shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Zoe also enjoys cooking, listening to podcasts, and being crafty.
