Primary French

4TH AND 5TH grade students at Meridian are learning to speak French! They are introduced to French vocabulary through the use of pictures, and they are rapidly able to create sentences describing everyday situations and settings. As they learn to say new words, connections are made to words learned in previous lessons. We focus on verbal skills. Very quickly, the students are able to have real conversations in French before learning to read or write in French. This method provides a solid foundation for students to continue studying French in the Middle Years Program where they will begin reading and writing in French.
